    British holidaymakers weary of Donald Trump are ditching the US for Canada, according to package holiday giant Tui. Sebastian Ebel, Tui’s chief executive, said Canadian bookings were “seeing an uplift” as more Europeans opt for Vancouver, Toronto and the Rocky Mountains rather than trips to Florida or California. It suggests that some Britons and European are boycotting the US while Mr Trump is in the White House.

    Many Canadians have themselves been boycotting the US and looking to holiday further afield, the Caribbean included. A Tui spokesman said the US may find favour again as the slump in bookings causes the price of rooms and flights to fall, making them more affordable. Virgin Atlantic has reported continued strong bookings for American breaks, fuelled partly by the weakening of the dollar against the pound.

    British Airways claims to have found a solution to the delays that have dogged it for years after turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to manage flights. A record proportion of flights departed Heathrow on time during the first three months of the year after BA used AI tools to minimise missed connections, avoid poor weather and deal more efficiently with disruption.
