The hotels that populate best-of lists tend to be flashy properties with nightly rates that make you say, “ouch” when you receive your credit card bill. Good morning. I’m Christopher Muther, travel writer and columnist for the Globe, filling in as a guest today to suggest some of my favorite places to disconnect from the world — and to remind you of today’s REAL ID deadline for domestic flights. But first, here‘s what else is going on:I remember Jan. 6, 2021, quite vividly, but not because of the attack on the US Capitol. But when I arrived at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport last week, my usual fight-or-flight instinct was not kicking in. No cars were cutting me off as I approached the airport, and there was no confusing signage.
