COVENTRY – The Coventry Selectboard, on Monday evening, signed a contract with the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department for approximately 235 hours of patrol time at $65 an hour from July 1, 2025, until June 30, 2026. The community will pay up to $15,275. The rate does not affect residential property taxpayers because the town receives tipping fees from the Casella Landfill, which cover all municipal taxes.

GREENSBORO – Doing business in Greensboro might get slightly more expensive. During their meeting on Wednesday evening, the selectboard discussed adding a one percent local option tax. This would be in addition to any other government taxes that are currently in place. They intend to bring it up again and possibly vote at their next meeting. There are different categories for Vermont communities to have a local option tax.
