Editor’s summaryThe transcriptional coactivator YAP promotes development and wound healing and is implicated in various diseases. Shah et al. found that YAP promoted cell motility by inducing a switch in the activity of Rho family GTPases. YAP-TEAD4 complexes mediated the induction of TRIO, a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that activated Rac1 and consequently inhibited RhoA, resulting in increased cell migration and invasion.
