ELON, NC (WGHP) — Whether it’s playing in an ensemble or on his own Bob Jefferson loves to create beautiful jazz music. “I play Alto, tenor and soprano and then I double on clarinet,” Jefferson said. He does it well. So well, in fact, that he has won a lot of accolades for his saxophone talent. He’s been named to honor, all county and all regional bands and was selected for the All-State Jazz band. The result of a lot of hard work and practice. He says he doesn’t practice to win awards.

ALTAMAHAW, NC (WGHP) — The second-grade classes at Altamahaw-Ossipee Elementary School are having fun learning with a lemonade sale. You see laughing and cheering, counting and teamwork. This lemonade sale is serious business. Liana Napier is one of the second-grade teachers who came up with this “Lemonade Economics” a few years ago. “The lemonade sale goes with our economics units and in the economics unit, we learn about goods and services, needs and wants, consumers and producers.

Novak is a Guilford County Schools adapted physical education specialist. He thrives when his students thrive. The school recently held a career day where the students got to see many careers in action, all around their own town. Charles Wright is a first grader who couldn’t say enough about the day. “I really liked going to see this building. I forgot what it was called, but when I drove past it, it was just a building. BURNSVILLE, NC (WGHP) — In a two-story building, saved from the flood waters of Hurricane Helene, is a refuge for some and a place of hope for others. According to volunteer Karen Sayre, “I have seen such goodness through this I mean it’s just it’s phenomenal the people here and the volunteers the neighbors.”She has been with Rebuilding Hollers Foundation since it started in a parking lot in the days after Hurricane Helene devastated parts of Yancey and Mitchell Counties.
