New Pacific FC managing-director Ross Marshall, 51, recalls coming up as a top local soccer player out of Gorge FC, Prospect Lake and then Lower Island Metro, part of the B.C. rep Metro system. And then at age 18, nothing. He did play college soccer for BCIT, but for all intents and purposes, the elite development system in Canada ended for him and Canadian players like him.
