Times Colonist

The Times Colonist is a daily newspaper published in English in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It was created in 1980 through the merger of two earlier publications: the Victoria Daily Times, which began in 1884, and the British Colonist (later known as the Daily Colonist), founded in 1858 by Amor De Cosmos, who served as British Columbia's second Premier. The British Colonist holds the distinction of being the first newspaper in British Columbia to have lasting significance. De Cosmos was the editor until 1866, after which D.W. Higgins took the reins for the following two decades.
