We had our first first-round lead winner last week and it came, once again, from Tap in Birdie podcast host Brian Kirschner, who hit J.J. Spaun on a +8000 ticket with a three-way chop at The Players. That’s Kirschner’s second correct pick this year following Joe Highsmith (+11000) at the Cognizant. We’re all chasing Kirschner, who is now up over 118 units on the year. The Players Championship is arguably the best golf tournament outside of the majors every year, and it’s also one of the hardest to handicap. With narrow fairways, unpredictable weather, and tons of water across TPC Sawgrass, including the famed 17th island green, it’s hard to predict who will come out on top at this event. Inside Sports Network Tap in Birdie podcast host Brian Kirschner nailed the first outright winner for the SI Golf Panel with his longshot pick of Joe Highsmith at +11000 odds (FanDuel) at last week's Cognizant Classic. Kirschner also hit J.J. Spaun Top 20 at +225. That left him up over 110 units on the week.
