Authorities in Spanish Fort are urging residents to exercise caution after reports of a bear was sighted in the area. The Spanish Fort Police Department said on social media that a black bear was spotted near Bromley Road last Friday, stating that while bears are generally harmless and tend to avoid interacting with people, they advise residents to take the following steps to stay safe and not attract bears:Secure pet food: Bring pet food and bowls inside at night to avoid attracting bears.

Tucked away in an undisclosed location in Baldwin County lies the Coastal Cat Sanctuary, which gives abandoned and neglected cats a new home. Run by the nonprofit Coastal Cats and Critters, the sanctuary sits on 19 acres of land and is the home of around 200 feral, unadoptable and homeless cats, many of which were found abandoned across Baldwin County. The organization is the brainchild of Mona Brown, who rescued two small feral kittens from a condo Dumpster.
