Newry and Armagh MLA Cathal Boylan has welcomed progress announced last week by the Minister for Infrastructure on the development of the Newry Southern Relief Road scheme. The scheme plans to build a road linking the A1/N1 Belfast to Dublin corridor and the A2 Warrenpoint Road to facilitate traffic from Warrenpoint Port bypassing Newry City Centre.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council hosted their annual Civic Awards ceremony at the weekend to recognise local people who have demonstrated outstanding service to the community, made significant contributions to public life in Newry, Mourne and Down and have shown real dedication in helping local residents. Council Chairperson, Councillor Pete Byrne welcomed 33 remarkable individuals and organisations to the Canal Court Hotel in Newry on Friday 27 September for the event.

Thursday 4 July is election day for the UK Parliamentary elections and polling stations are open from 7.00 am to 10.00 pm on the day.
