Published last month, statistics from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) showed that around 4.45 million children were living in relative poverty in the year to April 2024, after housing costs were deducted.

With Everton's new £750m stadium on Bramley Moore Dock in Liverpool all but complete, a series of test events have been held in preparation of the official opening. The first of these events welcomed 10,000 fans to watch an under 18s game between Everton and Wigan on Monday, February 17.

At around 9.20pm on Wednesday, April 16, two vehicles are reported to have collided at the junction of Sutton Road and Gaskell Street in St Helens. Police, paramedics, and the fire service were in attendance, with one individual reported to be "confined" to one of the vehicles.
