This is part of a national initiative to create more than 8 million new GP appointments this year. James Kennedy, 47, was seriously injured when a car collided with him at around 8am on Thursday, May 1 on Henry Street. He was taken to hospital but later died on May 3. At the Askern Main Colliery in 1940, Charles Liversidge is reported to have been buried by a roof fall, but was extricated some three hours later, without having suffered serious injury, "through the gallantry displayed, in conditions of the greatest risk, by a rescue party".
