The suspect was seen coming from a shop on Wigan Road (Image: Stock) A SUSPECTED thief was detained by police after being spotted by police “hastily leaving” a shop. Officers from the West Leigh neighbourhood team saw the man on Wednesday, June 25, while on route to conduct a partnership visit with colleagues from the council. Police say the suspect was seen hastily leaving a shop on Wigan Road. He was detained a short distance away with a bag full of suspected stolen items.

Police have issued an appeal over missing Stephanie (Image: GMP) POLICE are appealing for a missing woman who was last seen in Atherton. Stephanie, 28, is described as being 5ft 9in tall with long black hair. She was last seen wearing navy blue leggings, a blue top, a grey and blue waterproof jacket and white trainers. She was last seen on Derby Street, Atherton, on Monday, June 23 at around 2.30pm. Greater Manchester Police said: “Officers want to make sure she is safe and well.
