When a football game is played at a baseball stadium, one would expect home runs to ensue. But that was not the case in Pitt football’s matchup with Syracuse on Saturday in Yankee Stadium, as the Panthers (2-8, ACC 1-5) fell to the Orange (5-5, ACC 1-5) 28-13 in a shockingly bad performance from both teams. The Orange threw for just 17 passing yards, but that did not stop them from dominating the Panthers.

West Virginia took down Pitt women’s basketball 71-62 in another edition of the Backyard Brawl, bringing the Panthers’ record to 1-1 on the season. Fifth year guard Lauren Fields led West Virginia in scoring with 23 points. West Virginia sophomore guard Jordan Harrison recorded 10 assists and 7 steals. Redshirt junior guard Kyah Watson recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Mountaineers.

Pitt men’s basketball capped off a heart-warming military appreciation night with an 89-60 win over Binghamton to give head coach Jeff Capel his second win of the season. Senior forward Blake Hinson led the Panthers in scoring with 26 points in 24 minutes. Junior guard Ishmael Leggett finished with a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. First-year guard Carlton “Bub” Carrington scored 18 points as well.
