The number of United States citizens applying for Irish passports hit a ten-year high last month, according to figures released by the Department of Foreign Affairs. Some 4,327 US citizens applied for passports in February, the first full month following President Donald Trump's return to the White House, the most of any month since 2015. It continues a trend from 2024 which saw an almost 10% annual increase in the number of applications.

Some 25% fewer electric vehicles were registered in 2024 compared to the previous year, according to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry. Was that a blip, or have electrical vehicle sales plateaued? And what's the forecast for electric vehicle sales in 2025? How it started... Meath East elected three incumbent TDs and one new first-time Independent TD after two lengthy days of counting in Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA club. On Saturday night, Fine Gael's deputy leader Helen McEntee topped the poll to take the first seat. Counting was adjourned for the night and Sinn Féin's Darren O’Rourke was the second TD elected shortly after lunchtime on Sunday.

A is for Announcement Taoiseach Simon Harris told us for months that it was in his gift to dissolve the Dáil and set the election date. Enter Messrs O'Gorman and Martin. Weeks ago, Green party leader Roderic O’Gorman stole a march on the Taoiseach by announcing his preferred date for the election was 29 November.
