Background: In Portugal, it is mandatory to perform at least 6 gastrectomies during general surgery residency, within a wide list of procedures. Being aware of the high complexity of this surgical intervention, it is expected that residents find several obstacles along their training: from the low surgical opportunity, to the lack of standardized and progressive exposure.
