    First responders rescued three people June 1 after a plane crashed down in the ocean in Vero Beach, Florida. A multi-agency search and rescue successfully located and rescued the three occupants, consisting of the pilot and two passengers, after an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office helicopter located heat signatures in the water. At around 9:50 p.m., two survivors were found. And shortly after, the third survivor was found and identified himself as the plane's pilot.

    INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A fire quickly spread throughout a Vero Beach home displacing the family and shuttering the daycare operated out of the residence. The cause of the fire remains unknown as a state fire marshal investigation continues into its second week. It is believed the fire started in the garage and moved into a upper patio area then spread throughout the attic of the home in the 2600 block of Atlantic Boulevard.

No one was injured and no children were present with the daycare having closed earlier that week for the summer.     INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – A woman was arrested on neglect charges after a state investigator and deputies visited a home over concerns about living conditions and the welfare of children at the residence. On May 20 the home was searched by a Department of Children and Families investigator and Indian River County Sheriff’s Office deputy looking into statements about the environment and treatment of children by the mother and her partner, according to law enforcement and court records.

    INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - Deputies arrested a man who they said attempted to hide in an adult arcade to evade detectives searching for him with a warrant on a child neglect charge. The warrant and charge followed a May 3 incident where a toddler was reported as being found alone and covered in dirt at a residence over 170 yards away from the home of Cody Goble, 39.
