A Rockford man is in custody after a police responded to a bomb threat over the weekend. According to a news release from Rockford police, officers responded to UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital in Rockford shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday on a report of a bomb threat. The threat was unfounded, police said. The suspect was identified as Timothy Fullerton, 44, of Rockford. Fullerton was arrested and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.

A Wisconsin man has been charged with multiple crimes in connection with a traffic stop that ended in a Rockford K-9 being shot. Vernon Frills, 38, of Madison, Wis., has been charged with attempted murder (police), unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, aggravated discharge of a firearm (direction of a peace officer) armed violence, possession of a controlled substance (MDMA), injuring a police K-9, obstructing and an outstanding warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

A Rockford police K-9 was shot during a foot chase Saturday in Rockford. The Rockford Police Department posted shortly before 4 p.m. on X, that the K-9 is on their way to the emergency vet. The shooting took place during a traffic stop in the 1300 block of East State Street, police said. An adult male who was involved in the traffic stop fled on foot and shot the K-9, according to police. The suspect is in custody. Police did not release any further details.
