It helped sponsor the bill that created Feather Alerts, a statewide emergency system that notifies the public when an Indigenous person goes missing. And it was recently awarded a grant to build a wellness center that will include mental health services. The tribe also managed to hire the state’s first investigator dedicated solely to MMIP cases: Julia Oliveira, who arrived in March 2023.
