(FAUCETT, Mo.) The Mid-Buchanan R-V School District hosted its second annual career day on Wednesday. During the event, students in 5th-12th grade were able to visit with several employers from across the region including KQ2's Courtney Rowe. Some students already have plans for their futures after graduation, but some were also still trying to find their passion. Many people spent the weekend after Thanksgiving excitedly watching the Hallmark movie about the Kansas City Chiefs, and thanks to the recent Missouri film tax credit, many more Missouri-based holiday films are on their way. Production is beginning Thursday for a St. Joseph-based Christmas mystery film that you can be a part of, featuring a crew that includes many of the same people who worked on another major production in the area this summer.

You may have seen her balloon sculptures at many different events and locations in the St. Joseph area, from the Walk to End Alzheimer's, to college signings at local high schools, among many more. Balloons D'Lux owner Johanna Kline has been a consistent supplier of balloon displays for the area, operating entirely out of her home for the past few years, but on Wednesday she'll be expanding her operations with a brick and mortar location.

The local coffee shop is offering an incentive for donations of new or gently used and washed hats, gloves, and scarves for unhoused individuals to take as the colder weather moves in. Anyone who has a knack for crocheting is encouraged to donate their handmade knit items as well. Anyone who brings in a donation is offered a 50% discount on a coffee drink of their choice.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph, Missouri, School District (SJSD) announced that they are introducing at 2024 Attendance Challenge at four schools for the 2024-25 academic year. Attendance has continued to be a challenge for the district. At the end of the 2023-2024 school year, attendance rates had dropped to the 77-78% range.

Many people in St. Joseph are familiar with Erik Borger and his staple restaurants such as Il Lazzarone and Pizza Tascio, but his most recent addition to his restaurant empire might just be his most heartfelt yet. The building at 2217 Frederick Avenue was built in 1901, served as a fire station complete with horse-drawn equipment, and housed some of the firefighters who served our community.
