(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) When the YMCA set out to create the "Pedal for the Pool" event, organization leaders were aiming for $5,000 for the day, but on Monday, supporters shattered the goal. In an effort to raise awareness and raise some money for the future St. Joseph Area Aquatic Center, YMCA CEO Tammy Killin said they were just looking to get the word out about the ongoing project and didn't expect raise almost $29,000 from the one-day event.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Benton girls' basketball head coach Chris Michaels is stepping down after a five-year run as the program's head coach. Michaels has accepted the head girls basketball job at Jefferson City High School. In five seasons as the Cardinals' head coach, Michaels helped guide Benton to four Final 4 appearances including three second-place finishes. Before taking over the Benton program, Michaels was the head coach at North Andrew for two seasons.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western has found its next head men's basketball coach. Director of Athletics Andy Carter announcing the hiring of Brooks McKowen to be the seventh head coach in program history. McKowen comes to Missouri Western after spending 12 seasons as the head coach at Division II Upper Iowa. During his tenure, the Peacocks went 209-148 with three NCAA Tournament appearances. McKowen's squads have won at least 21 games in three of the last four seasons.

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Missouri Western women's basketball coach Ashton Feldhaus has announced her resignation after one season. The Kentucky native will return to her home state to be the next head coach at Morehead State, Division I school in the Ohio Valley conference. The Griffons went 20-10 in Feldhaus' lone season with a third-place finish in the MIAA and a NCAA Tournament berth.

(IOWA CITY, Iowa) The University of Iowa men's basketball team has a new head coach and it is the former Northwest Missouri State head man. Ben McCollum is the new head basketball coach in Iowa City. McCollum led Drake to a 31-4 record in his only season with the Bulldogs in 2024-25. The Bulldogs won the MVC regular season and conference tournament championships. In the NCAA Tournament, McCollum's squad bested #6 Missouri in the Round of 64 before being bounced by Texas Tech in the Round of 32.
