(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The Benton Cardinals football team has a new head coach. Benton has hired Mark Cole to be the next head football coach. Cole has been coaching for 27 years including 20 years as a head coach. Cole has been at Gallatin, Savannah, Maysville, and Milan. He has won six district championships, six conference titles, made 10 playoff appearances and three semifinal appearances. (ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Mustangs hosted more than 4,100 fans on Opening Day Wednesday night. 4,112 fans packed into Phil Welch Stadium to watch the Mustangs win their Opening Day game. The Mustangs beat the NEMO Naturals, 11-0, Wednesday night. The Mustangs have Thursday off before hosting the KC Monarchs on Friday night and the Nevada Griffons on Saturday.
