MALTA, N.Y. (WTEN) — A Malta man was fatally shot by New York State Police troopers after he allegedly fired rounds at the NYSP Saratoga Barracks. The incident began around 1:43 p.m. Wednesday when troopers inside the barracks heard gunfire outside the station. Police said David Levine, 69, of Malta, was standing in the barracks parking lot with a long gun. Troopers issued multiple commands to drop the weapon; however, they said Levine pointed the gun at police.

KINDERHOOK, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Crews were called to a massive fire at a barn at Samascott’s Orchard in Kinderhook in eastern New York on Tuesday night. According to David Bartlett, the first assistant chief for the Kinderhook Fire Department, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined however, the fire caused propane and ammonia tanks in the barn to explode which aided in burning the structure to the ground.
