At least 21 additional Burlington basements were flooded in April, while damage to a Halton sewer pipe during construction of the new Drury Lane pedestrian bridge last month was being repaired. Halton Region spokesperson Isabel Contin confirmed this week staff were aware of 29 properties in the Glenwood School Drive neighbourhood that had been impacted by flooding due to the March 26 incident.

The owner of Burlington’s former Continental Austrian Club building hopes to transform the structure into nine units of affordable housing. Mario Zelaya, president of Zelaya Lofts Inc., which purchased the 664 Spring Gardens Rd. site in April 2024 for $2.3 million, said affordable housing doesn’t have to be “cheap” or small.
