The Oklahoma House of Representatives and State Senate have overwhelmingly approved a bill that would save Oklahomans sales tax money on the purchase of gun safety devices. House Republican Nick Archer from Elk City, and Democratic State Senator Jo Anna Dossett from Tulsa Co-authored the bill. The measure passed 25-2 in the State House, and 43-1 in the State SenateThe measure would exempt firearm safety devices and gun safety devices from state sales tax.

State legislators are considering several bills that could impact children in Oklahoma, with a deadline of March 6 to advance out of committee. One bill already on the Senate floor would ban smoking marijuana, tobacco, or vaping in a vehicle with a child inside, with violators facing a fine of up to $100. The revenue from fines would support the state's Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Fund.
