    The Alberta government is cracking down on invasive mussels by requiring mandatory inspections of watercraft coming from high-risk areas. Beginning Sunday, the province says mandatory inspections will be done on all boats, jet skis, kayaks, and other watercraft entering Alberta's eastern and southern borders until Sept. 30. It's a way to safeguard against invasive mussels, including zebra and quagga mussels, which can clog irrigation pipes, damage pumps, and disrupt water delivery.

    Calgary festival-goers will now have the option to purchase cannabis on-site at adult-only events after a city councillor's proposal passed earlier this week. Ward 11 councillor Kourtney Penner introduced the motion on Feb. 11, requesting that city regulations permit cannabis sales at events where minors are prohibited. The motion was approved 9-1, moving to debate on Feb. 25. Coun. Dan McLean was the lone no vote.

    Mounties are warning of dangerous driving conditions on the QEII Highway north of Calgary due to ice and strong winds. The RCMP say there is black ice and severe winds along the highway between Airdrie and Red Deer. Conditions are specifically bad in the area of Olds and Bowden. "These road conditions will impact the ability to stop in short distances," reads a release from police.

    Three people were sent to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash shut down a portion of Stoney Trail in northwest Calgary Sunday. Two semi-trucks collided and were part of the crash that brought westbound travel to a standstill. The crash near the Sarcee Trail turnoff happened around 2 p.m.EMS say they took the three to hospital in non-life threatening condition. First responders had to shut down westbound travel to give crews room to clear cars and debris.
