FHS picks up first district win as regular season heads into homestretch FARMINGTON – Farmington High School picked up its first district win in a late inning thriller over crosstown rival Piedra Vista 3-1 Tuesday at Ricketts Park. Farmington entered Tuesday’s matchup leading Class 5A in runs scored with 193 but had surrendered the second most runs in District 1-5A at 41 runs, 28 more than Piedra Vista had given up.

Five Panthers combine for six homers in District 1-5A opener over Hawks FARMINGTON – Sophomore Octaviana John hit a pair of home runs as the Piedra Vista offense exploded for six round trippers in a 15-5 win Wednesday over Volcano Vista in the district opener for both teams at the Farmington Sports Complex. John, who leads the Panthers with four home runs and 23 runs batted in after 17 games this season, went 2-for-3 at the plate Wednesday, driving in four runs off a pair of 2-run home runs.
