Piedra Vista earns second place finish in district standings ahead of playoffs FARMINGTON – Piedra Vista High School ended its district campaign on a winning note Friday, defeating crosstown rival Farmington 11-1 at the Farmington Sports Complex. Piedra Vista swept Farmington this season in district play defeating the Scorpions on Apr. 15 in a 17-11 shootout. Friday’s contest featured complete dominance from the Panthers in all phases of the game, ending the matchup after just five innings.

FHS picks up first district win as regular season heads into homestretch FARMINGTON – Farmington High School picked up its first district win in a late inning thriller over crosstown rival Piedra Vista 3-1 Tuesday at Ricketts Park. Farmington entered Tuesday’s matchup leading Class 5A in runs scored with 193 but had surrendered the second most runs in District 1-5A at 41 runs, 28 more than Piedra Vista had given up.

PV breaks scoreless tie in bottom of sixth inning over fourth-ranked Storm FARMINGTON – Trapper Paige’s bat and a costly error in the outfield proved to be the difference Tuesday afternoon at Ricketts Park as Piedra Vista topped Cleveland by a final of 4-1 in a needed District 1-5A victory. Paige broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the bottom half of the sixth inning when he laced a bases-loaded single to left field.

Five-run sixth inning propels Rams to road victory, have now won three straight FARMINGTON – Farmington opened its district campaign on the wrong side of the scoreboard Tuesday, losing at home to Rio Rancho by a final of 8-3 Wednesday at Ricketts Park. Rio Rancho relief pitcher Destiny Gonzales took the win in the circle, throwing 5⅔ scoreless innings while striking out seven Scorpions.

Youngest sister Kjani hopes to lift Farmington to Class 5A state title next year FARMINGTON – The Farmington High School girls basketball team hasn’t had a losing record since 2017. The following year in 2018, a freshman by the name of Kiiyani Anitielu joined the Scorpions roster. The next six years saw three more athletes join Farmington’s roster, all with names that began with the letter “K”- inspired from a blend of their Native American and Samoan backgrounds – and ending with Anitielu.
