Farmington entered Tuesday’s matchup leading Class 5A in runs scored with 193 but had surrendered the second most runs in District 1-5A at 41 runs, 28 more than Piedra Vista had given up.

Paige broke a scoreless tie with two outs in the bottom half of the sixth inning when he laced a bases-loaded single to left field.

Rio Rancho relief pitcher Destiny Gonzales took the win in the circle, throwing 5⅔ scoreless innings while striking out seven Scorpions.

Youngest sister Kjani hopes to lift Farmington to Class 5A state title next year FARMINGTON – The Farmington High School girls basketball team hasn’t had a losing record since 2017. The following year in 2018, a freshman by the name of Kiiyani Anitielu joined the Scorpions roster. The next six years saw three more athletes join Farmington’s roster, all with names that began with the letter “K”- inspired from a blend of their Native American and Samoan backgrounds – and ending with Anitielu.
