    A Buffalo man has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced. Donta Williams, 30, faces a minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of life when he returns for sentencing Sept. 18 before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Prosecutors said that crack cocaine, fentanyl, $1,030 in cash, a Glock pistol and ammunition were among the items seized by investigators Nov.

    A man who set a tire fire on railroad tracks in Farnham two years ago has been sentenced to 27 months in prison, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced. Michael B. Benitez, 34, who now lives in Buffalo, also was ordered by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara to pay $1,382 in restitution to Norfolk Southern Railway. Benitez was convicted on a charge of attempting to wreck, derail, set fire to or disable railroad on-track equipment.

    A Buffalo man who sold drugs to undercover agents on five occasions has pleaded guilty to distribution of amphetamine, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced. Mario Pittman Jr., 31, faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years when he returns before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara on Oct. 9 for sentencing.

    A man who fatally shot another man on Buffalo's Lower West Side last September has been sentenced to 19 years in prison, Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced. Raymond J. Torres, 36, of no permanent address, also was ordered by Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to undergo five years of supervision after he is released. Prosecutors said Torres used an illegal gun to shoot Travis A. Martin, 35, during a dispute near Seventh and Jersey streets about 4:20 a.m. last Sept. 19.
