WAXHAW, N.C. (WBTV) - A Waxhaw father who lost his daughter in a home invasion while visiting her friends in South Carolina earlier this month spoke to WBTV. Stephen Federico is the father of Logan Federico, the 22-year-old woman who was gunned down when the suspect, Alexander Dickey, broke into a home where Logan Federico was visiting friends in Columbia.

WEDDINGTON, N.C. (WBTV) - In Weddington at the town council meeting on Monday, a topic has divided the town. Developers want to build a 62-lot subdivision and they’re being met with opposition from some residents. The main reason for the pushback is the environment and people in this community fear their quality of life will be diminished and the new construction will interfere with the scenery and nature they’ve enjoyed for decades.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Nearly a week has gone by since a young Mormon missionary was killed in a hit-and-run in northwest Charlotte. It happened near the intersection of Beatties Ford Road and Celia Avenue not far from the Northwest school of the Arts. On May 1, a group of Mormon missionaries were out in Charlotte sharing the gospel, when a driver lost control of their vehicle, veered onto the sidewalk, and hit them.

GASTONIA, N.C. (WBTV) - A pregnant mother reached out to WBTV for help after going weeks without air conditioning at her Gaston County apartment. Faye Louis told WBTV that she’s been living without central air conditioning since late February. Louis told us this week that her doctor is growing concerned about dehydration for both her and her soon-to-be-born baby.
