At the time of Anthony Payne's death a warrant for his arrest was outstandingA drunk sex offender died after falling down a flight of stairs the day after he was released from prison. Anthony Payne and his partner were both found unconscious by a member of the public at the bottom of a communal staircase on April 3, 2024. Payne, 66, never regained consciousness and died in hospital five days later, a report into his death by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said.

Parts of Tib Street and Thomas Street was closed while the woman was brought to safetyPolice cordoned off a road in the Northern Quarter after a woman was spotted on the roof of a building. The junction of Tib Street and Thomas Street were closed at about 9pm tonight (Sunday) as police and firefighters tried to bring the woman down from the rooftop. After about 40 minutes she was brought to safety.
