Justin Rose hopes that Los Angeles' group stage win in the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) is able to bring a few hours of "light relief" to those affected by the wildfires in the city. The golfer is currently competing in the TGL which is a technology-led indoor golf league developed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. Rose's LA beat Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links 12-1 on Tuesday in their first match of the competition.

Noel Hunt says he is "privileged and honoured" to be in the position he now finds himself in as Reading manager. The Royals announced on Friday that Hunt would take over from Ruben Selles, who left to join Championship side Hull City. He stepped into the dugout less than 24 hours after his appointment was announced and oversaw his side in a 1-1 draw against League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers. "It's been a bit of a whirlwind," Hunt told BBC Sport.

Reading have appointed Noel Hunt as their new manager after the departure of Ruben Selles to Hull City. BBC Radio Berkshire understands the 41-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Select Car Leasing Stadium. The former Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Reading striker will take charge of his first game at League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday. Hunt takes over with the club sixth in the table.

Southampton boss Russell Martin has said that Jack Stephens' red card "cost" his side in their 5-1 defeat by Chelsea in the Premier League on Wednesday. Replays showed that the Saints captain pulled Chelsea full-back Marc Cucurella by his hair as Southampton had an attacking corner. Referee Tony Harrington referred to the pitchside monitor before showing Stephens a straight red card for the incident. "I don't think anyone will be more disappointed than Jack," Martin said.
