In an attempt to make public school teacher salaries more competitive, Virginia legislators are proposing to increase the average teacher salary in Virginia to at least the average teacher salary nationally. We encourage the legislature to consider policies that would be more effective. Investing in teachers makes sense, doing so without regard to the challenges confronting teachers and schools doesn’t.
