IronPigs Beat WooSox Once Again

The first place IronPigs defeated the Red Sox 5-2 Saturday night. That's three straight wins for the Pigs. Buddy Kennedy started the scoring with a 2 run home run and Mick Abel was great on the mound. He had 9 strikeouts moving to 5-2 on the season. The two teams play again at 1:35 Sunday afternoon.

After rain washed out everything Friday, the EPC quarterfinals finally began. Parkland knocked off Central Catholic 5-1Other EPC ResultsLiberty 5 PM East 4Nazareth 6 Stroudsburg 5Freedom 2 Whitehall 1The semifinals will be on Monday. In the Berks quarterfinals, there were just two games today. The rain playing a factor in Reading as well. Exeter advanced to the semis beating Fleetwood 4-1. In the other quarterfinal, Berks Catholic beat Wilson 3-1.
Moravian Post 2 Comeback Victories in Landmark Tournament

Moravian came back from a single run deficit in Game 1 of their Landmark Tournament Saturday. They beat Wilkes 5-4 in extra innings. Jess Forder had the game winning walk-off hit. IN Game 2 of the day, Moravian battled Catholic U, who swept them last week. Catholic U had a lead late in this one 4-2 in the 6th. Moravian scored 3 in the bottom of the frame. Forder had another go ahead hit. Moravian will play Catholic U at 11 am tomorrow.
Kutztown Softball Stays Alive in Atlantic Regional

Kutztown softball had their backs against the wall against Charleston today but defeated them 3-1 thanks to Alexa Stevens' home run in the 7th inning. It was a big win for the Golden Bears as they stayed alive for the Atlantic Regional. Earlier in the morning, Bloomsburg beat Kutztown 8-6. It will be a rematch with the Huskies with first pitch at 10 am Sunday
Fightins Split Saturday Doubleheader

Reading won the opening game of the doubleheader in Binghamton 7-5 against the Rumble Ponies. After Trent Farquhar's grand slam, Reading built up a 5-0 lead. However Binghamton came back to tie the game. Then in the top of the 7th, Hendry Mendez hit a 2 run homer, sealing the win for the Fightins. In the 2nd game, Binghamton shut out Reading 6-0. Jonah Tong threw a shutout for the Ponies. Binghamton used a 6 run 5th inning to pull away. Jett Williams, Nick Morabito, and Ryan Clifford all had RBI.
Wilson boys roll past Exeter in BCIAA semifinal

SPRING TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Wilson boys lacrosse team will have a chance to extend their BCIAA Championship streak following a 17-6 rout of Exeter in a league semifinal game Friday night at home. Carter Brensinger paced the scoring with 6 goals and 2 assists for the Bulldogs. Luke Azzanesi and Beckett Redner each added 3 goals. Redner hit 100 career goals on the night. The Bulldogs will face Twin Valley on Tuesday at 6:00 at Alvernia. The Raiders beat Wilson in the regular season.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The 2-time defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears avoided elimination Friday night at the PPL Center, securing a 6-4 win over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Game 4 of the Atlantic Division Semifinals. The series returns to Hershey for a winner-take-all Game 5 on Sunday evening. Hershey scored 3 goals in the opening period against Phantoms netminder Cal Petersen.

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs evened their series with visit Worcester Friday night following a walk-off 5-4 win over the Red Sox at Coca-Cola Park. Wyatt Mills committed a throwing error in the 9th inning on a Garrett Stubbs bunt, allowing Rodolfo Castro to score the winning run. Justin Crawford went 3-5 with 2 runs scored to pace Lehigh Valley offensively. Alan Rangel pitched 5.2 innings of one run baseball for the 'Pigs, striking out 9 in a no-decision.
Walter named Landmark Player of the Year

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Moravian's Holly Walter has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year. She's hitting .385 this season with 50 hits and 40 runs scored. She's amassed a school record 56 stolen bases in her career. She's also sure-handed in the field, helping her become the 8th different player in program history to earn the honor. She'll spearhead the Greyhounds' bid at a conference tournament title this weekend, which begins Saturday morning at 10:00 vs. Wilkes at Blue & Grey Field.
Hamburg softball looks to make run in BCIAA playoffs

HAMBURG, Pa. - The Hamburg softball team had another fantastic season with 15 wins, earning the 4-seed in this year's BCIAA Tournament. They'll take on 5-seed Fleetwood Saturday morning at 10:00 at Muhlenberg. The Hawks are consistently one of the stronger programs out of the Berks County and they're hoping to lean on that pedigree entering play Saturday. We caught up some members of the team Friday ahead of their quarterfinal round matchup.
