NORTH WALES — Several other area towns have added their voices to calls to find funding for SEPTA. North Wales officials unanimously passed a resolution backing the transit agency on Tuesday, while county officials planned to hold a press conference in Jenkintown on the same topic. “I think everybody knows that SEPTA has challenges, but there’s no question that the service is essential, for not just North Wales but for the entire region,” said Mayor Neil McDevitt.

LANSDALE — Borough officials are mourning the loss of a local legend and thinking about honoring his lifetime of service with something lasting. “Lansdale lost one of its favorite sons — a Lifetime Achievement Award winner, our very first one, our former fire chief and fire marshal, Jay Daveler. It’s a big loss to this community,” said council President Mary Fuller at a recent meeting. “You look around, and there are reminders of Jay, whether you even realize it or not,” she said.

TOWAMENCIN — A familiar topic could be bawk-er, backup for another round of clucking discussion soon. Towamencin supervisors heard an update last week about chicken codes in the town, and new rules that could allow more homeowners to keep them. “Chickens, chickens, chickens. The township and the planning commission have been discussing this item for probably a year and a half,” said Will Brugger, the township’s director of code enforcement, planning and zoning.
