    A man has died after being hit by a van on the hard shoulder of the M20. The victim had got out of his blue Kia Carens on the coastbound stretch between Junction 8 for Leeds Castle and Junction 9 for Ashford. Police say he was then struck by an Iveco box van at 10.20pm on Friday. The 71-year-old died at the scene and his next of kin have been informed. A female passenger received minor injuries, and police say the driver of the van is assisting officers with their inquires.

    A suspected drink-driver is being held by police after a car collided with four deer. Officers were called to Penshurst, near Tunbridge Wells, in the early hours. They say a man blew a reading of 60 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath - almost double the legal limit of 35. A photo shared on X by Kent Police Sevenoaks shows police tape surrounding a red Ford Fiesta, which sports a crumpled bonnet. Police say the man remains in custody.

    Jeremy Clarkson became stuck at a “gigantic” Kent lorry park for hours while waiting for paperwork to be signed. The TV presenter stopped at Sevington Inland Border Facility in Ashford on his way to the Netherlands to film Clarkson’s Farm, his hit Prime Video series. He said he and his crew, including farm manager Kaleb Cooper, were forced to wait “for someone in a cabin to stamp our form” as they had to check filming equipment out of the UK.

    Former sportscar racer Michael Igoe produced a mistake-free drive on a revised layout to secure back-to-back Brands Hatch Winter Stages victories. The Citroen C3 Rally2 campaigner, co-driven by Will Atkins, led Saturday’s event from start to finish for the second successive season to beat Barry Morris/Tom Hutchings (Darrian T90 GTR+) by 19 seconds. Cheshire-based Igoe said the tarmac-only stages - which did not include the circuit’s rally school section or outer paddock - had “pluses and minuses”.
