Over one thousand Philadelphia Eagles fans flocked to the Cathedral of Learning to celebrate their team’s 40-22 Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night. Pitt Police closed sections of Forbes Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard following the game to make way for the crowd of students. At least one person tore down a street sign on Bigelow Boulevard.

Every Sunday morning, I pull up a podcast on my phone, lace up my running shoes, and begin my trek up Lone Mountain — a heap of dirt, gravel and rock sitting isolated amid a suburban wasteland. Reaching the top, I stare out at a lackluster view of Alabama’s silhouette, barely distinguishable through the dust and smog shifting with the desert breeze. I look down briefly at the 600-foot drop, turn around, and begin my trip back home — only to repeat the same journey next Sunday.

Over break, I finally had the opportunity to watch the Netflix original series “Arcane,” based on the online game “League of Legends.” One of my friends recommended it to me, telling me that I’d like it simply because it has lesbians in it. And they were right. The fact that this show had a couple of lesbians in it was the main reason why I enjoyed the show so much.

As a One Direction fan, there are a multitude of dates that we all seem to remember. July 23 is One Direction’s anniversary, March 25 is when Zayn Malik officially left the band, Aug. 23 is when the group officially announced a hiatus and in January 2016, the band’s hiatus became indefinite. Now in 2024, Oct. 16 is another date added — the death of Liam Payne. Growing up, One Direction had such a large impact on my life, just like they did with the other millions of kids out there.

When I first started nursing school, I knew I would be in for the ride of my life. I knew that nursing school would involve taking challenging classes, studying for hours on end and being put through the wringer. But what I didn’t anticipate was how this would heavily affect my mental health. Even now, halfway through my third semester of nursing school, I still find it difficult to manage nursing school and live my life to the fullest.
