In a season full of noise, the Oklahoma City Thunder were the quiet storm. In the world of hot takes, gossip, and big-market bias that defines much of today’s NBA media landscape, it’s easy for nuance, and sometimes even history itself, to be overlooked. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the glaring absence of national recognition for the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 2024-25 season, which quietly ranks among the most remarkable in modern basketball history. This sounds crazy, I know.

The Indiana Pacers have exceeded expectations in their run to the NBA Finals. Even after a surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, this is a surprise for most. Led by Tyrese Haliburton and an elite supporting cast, they’ve played unselfishly, fast, and with a chip on their shoulder. But now they face their biggest test yet, the Oklahoma City Thunder. We are a little over halfway through the NBA season and at this point, teams are what they are. Some teams that have figured that out and some haven’t. Some need to make changes while some just have to get healthy. Either way, this is the time of year that’s imperative for teams to figure out where they are and if they need to make changes. It’s not always about making changes though. Just letting the team grow together and building experience could do the trick. Maybe getting a little healthier.
