Film crews in Vancouver are once again busy bringing a beloved animated show to life for a live-action Netflix series. The streaming giant recently announced that season three of Avatar: The Last Airbender (ATLA) is officially in production. Like its first two seasons, Metro Vancouver and B.C. will host the cast and crew for much of the filming. ATLA is a live-action reimagining of the popular Nickelodeon animated series.

Kenneth Birch of Lone Butte, B.C., was at the general store of the same name when he took the opportunity to check several of his lottery tickets. One scored him a $1 million jackpot from the Lotto 6/49 draw held on May 17, 2025. “I couldn’t believe it when I found out that I won,” Birch said of the moment he learned he won.
