The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra has announced that Erin Freeman has been named the director of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus and the AT&T Foundation Chair. Her appointment follows a national search that ensued upon the retirement of Amy Kaiser, whose 27-year tenure as chorus director ended with the 2021-22 season. Freeman will be just the third person to hold that position, which was founded in 1976 under the direction of Thomas Peck.

If you’ve never seen 10cc in concert, don’t beat yourself up over it. The band, whose classic-rock classics include “I’m Not in Love,” “The Things We Do for Love,” “Dreadlock Holiday” and “Rubber Bullets,” last toured the U.S. in 1978. And so far as we can tell, its only St. Louis dates were in 1974 and ’75. “Funny enough, I remember the earlier tours more than the ’78 ones,” says Graham Gouldman, the last man standing from 10cc’s original lineup.
