    MASON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - Mason County reopened its courthouse July 13, three years after it burned in an arson fire. According to a press release from the Texas Historical Commission, a crowd of 750 cheered as former County Judge Jerry Bearden cut the ribbon on the newly restored building. Bearden served as county judge when the building burned on Feb. 4, 2021.

    AUSTIN (KXAN) - As Austin and the world recover from Friday's Crowdstrike outage, a University of Texas at Austin professor said the failure is a reminder of the importance of backups. Kumar Muthuraman is a professor at the Department of Information, Risk and Operations Management and the Department of Finance at the McCombs School of Business. Muthuraman told KXAN Friday afternoon that the outage at Austin-based Crowdstrike and the problems it caused showed how interconnected the world is.

    ROSANKY, Texas (KXAN) - The Gonzales County Sheriff's Office said Saturday morning it is looking for two boys. The Texas Department of Public Safety issued an Amber Alert for Lucas Mendez, 6, and Lukane Mendez, 2. According to the alert, Lucas was last seen wearing blue shirt with shark on it, blue shorts with gray stripes and blue Sonic the Hedge Hog Crocs. Lukane was last seen wearing a black shirt and white diaper. The children were last seen at 8 p.m. Thursday in Rosanky.

    AUSTIN (KXAN)-The Austin Independent School District will start a conversation Tuesday about the future of a now-closed school campus in East Austin. The district constructed Sims Elementary School in 1956 at 1203 Springdale Road. It merged Sims with Norman Elementary after the 2020-2021 school year and shut down the campus on Springdale, according to AISD. The district wants to know what the community is thinking about the eight acres the Sims campus occupies.
