AUSTIN, Texas — A bill to streamline state regulation and reduce unnecessary rules is one step closer to Gov. Greg Abbott's desk. Senate Bill 14 is the first bill to get this far in the 89th legislative session after the Texas House initially approved SB 14 on Tuesday morning. The bill, named the "Regulatory Reform and Efficiency Act," would create an efficiency office at the state level, similar to Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the federal level.
