    The leader of Cannock Chase Council, Councillor Tony Johnson, has said that negotiations are taking place into a potential new lease of life for both the Museum of Cannock Chase and the Prince of Wales Theatre. Both venues were earmarked for closure as part of the council's budget proposal for 2025/26 in November last year, with a full council meeting in February being the last nail in the coffin for both locations.

    Hundreds of people turned out for the last event at the Museum of Cannock Chase, on Valley Road, Cannock, ahead of their closure on Friday, April 25. The closure of the museum was announced earlier in 2024 as part of Cannock Chase Council's attempts to close a  £1.3 million budget gap for the 2025/26 period. Following the announcement, community groups came together to oppose the move, however, it was finally revealed that the museum would be near the end of April.

    Operation Vantor is a dedicated initiative launched by the West Midlands Police in May 2024 to combat a sharp spike in vehicle thefts across the region. The operation launched after data revealed a 35 per cent rise in cars being stolen between 2021 and 2023. However, since the operation was launched last year, car crime in the West Midlands has dropped by more than 10 per cent, with officers saying that the work 'highlighted' the crucial and ongoing work by dedicated officers.
