On January 2, 2025, the Department of Justice (DOJ) published in the Federal Register proposed amendments to the DOJ regulations that implement the Foreign Agents Registration Act, 22 U.S.C. §§ 611 et. seq. (FARA). The DOJ will accept comments on the proposed amendments until March 3, 2025. The FARA Unit published an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in late 2021 soliciting comments on what the FARA Unitshould or should not do in amending the FARA regulations.

On 18 October 2023, the US implemented a temporary suspension of specific sanctions against Venezuela in response to the signing of an electoral roadmap agreement between Venezuela's unitary platform and representatives of President Maduro.
