WILTON — Sharon Rainey, 81, who died Saturday from injuries from a fire at her home at Magrath Road, was remembered Monday as someone who was always willing to help others. The owner of Dutch Treat, a seasonal eatery and ice cream shop on U.S. Route 2 in Wilton, Rainey died at a Portland hospital. A neighbor and police officers rescued her from the first-floor bedroom of the two-story house she shared with her significant other, Robert Adams, 84.

PERU — Resident Don Roach was honored May 12 with the town’s Spirit of America Award for his commendable community service. It was noted that Roach is always willing to help others research issues or problems related to the town’s functioning. Few Select Board meetings occur without Roach bringing them charts, graphs, notes and his concerns regarding the town’s finances.

AUBURN — After sitting vacant since a devastating fire in 2018, one of the city’s most historic and recognizable buildings will be redeveloped into a residential program for individuals returning from incarceration. The City Council this week approved a credit enhancement agreement for the developers behind the project at the Charles Jordan House at 63 Academy St., which served as a boarding house for many years until it was heavily damaged by fire.

AUBURN — As a critical deadline passed Wednesday, the new board of directors leading efforts to save Saint Dominic Regional High School is proposing to lease the school and move middle school students to the high school. Those plans, as well as frustrations with the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, were included in a long statement shared on the board’s Facebook page Wednesday night.
