WILTON — Sharon Rainey, 81, who died Saturday from injuries from a fire at her home at Magrath Road, was remembered Monday as someone who was always willing to help others. The owner of Dutch Treat, a seasonal eatery and ice cream shop on U.S. Route 2 in Wilton, Rainey died at a Portland hospital. A neighbor and police officers rescued her from the first-floor bedroom of the two-story house she shared with her significant other, Robert Adams, 84.

SALEM TOWNSHIP — Maine School Administrative District 58 directors will discuss Thursday the next steps following the failed vote Tuesday on the $12.6 million proposed school budget. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Mt. Abram High School at 1513 Salem Road, also known as state Route 142, in Salem Township. According to state law, if a budget is not approved by July 1 the district can to continue to operate on the most recently approved budget until one is passed for 2025-26.

FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted 4-1 Thursday to restore $30,146 to the budget for their flex benefits and other items, sending a nearly $11.6 million budget back to the Budget Advisory Committee. After factoring in revenues, taxpayers will be responsible for nearly$10.2 million, including about $3 million for the jail. The budget would mean a property tax of $1.39 per $1,000 of assessed value.

WILTON — The Select Board voted Tuesday against allowing ATV access on McCrillis Corner Road following a second public hearing at the town office meeting room filled with people. The vote on a motion to allow access failed 2-2. Vice Chairman Mike Wells and Selectperson David Leavitt voted in favor of ATV access and Chairperson Tiffany Maiuri and Selectperson Phil Hilton opposed it. Selectperson Keith Swett was absent.
