As covered in our previous client alert, on 15 October 2024, Singapore’s parliament passed an amendment to the Elections (Integrity of Online Advertising) Bill, prohibiting the publication, boosting, sharing and reposting of deepfake content depicting election candidates. This bill has come into effect as of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s Writ of Election issued on 15 April 2025, ahead of Singapore’s upcoming general election on 3 May 2025 (“Polling Day“).

In briefThe Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has announced that it will extend the current Revised Enhanced Mediation Promotion Scheme (REMPs), which was slated to end by 31 March 2025. REMPs will be extended from 1 April 2025 for three years. In more detailREMPs is a funding scheme by IPOS to cover part of parties' mediation costs. REMPs encourages parties in IPOS proceedings to choose mediation by partially funding the process to encourage amicable IP dispute resolution.
