As covered in our previous client alert, on 15 October 2024, Singapore’s parliament passed an amendment to the Elections (Integrity of Online Advertising) Bill, prohibiting the publication, boosting, sharing and reposting of deepfake content depicting election candidates. This bill has come into effect as of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s Writ of Election issued on 15 April 2025, ahead of Singapore’s upcoming general election on 3 May 2025 (“Polling Day“).
