But that wasn’t the only skill Bryce Young wanted to instill in the children looking up to him. The football star has a passion for teaching mental wellness. CHARLOTTE — For the second straight year, Panthers quarterback Bryce Young will host a free youth camp in Charlotte, with an emphasis on mental health. The event is in support of the Young9 foundation, founded by Young, which aims to educate and empower youth and their families to navigate the unique pressures and challenges they face. It’s scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, June 7th at the Irwin Belk Complex on the Johnson C Smith University campus.

The club held two events last Thursday and Sunday. The Laundry Project helps families wash clothes and linens by transforming the laundromat into a community center. Volunteers then help with laundry and even provide entertainment for the kids.

Eight competitors in the Meck Mile ran for four hours straight on Saturday to raise money for Hurricane Helene relief. Several of the runners have ties to Western North Carolina and were in the Asheville area when the hurricane hit. On Saturday, they ran from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with each lap they ran being sponsored, with the money going towards relief in western North Carolina. Channel 9’s DaShawn Brown caught up with several of these runners.
