The Edmonton Elks, as expected, were busy on the opening day of CFL free-agency, signing six players on Tuesday. Canadian defensive back Royce Metchie agreed to a two-year deal with the Elks. Five other players signed one-year deals: Canadian receiver Kaion Julien-Grant, American defensive backs Manny Rugamba and Kobe Williams, Canadian offensive lineman Gregor MacKellar, and Canadian receiver Tyson Middlemost.

The Edmonton Elks brought back a big piece of their offensive line on Monday as they signed starting left tackle to a two-year contract extension. Martez Ivey was a key piece to the Elks offence in 2024 helping the team to a league-low in quarterback sacks allowed with 29. Ivey also helped the Elks to lead the CFL in rushing yards averaging 131.4 yards per game. Ivey was named a Western Division All-Star and the Elks nominee for most outstanding lineman in 2024.

The Edmonton Elks have announced their coaching staff for the 2025 CFL season and the list features a number of returning faces. They'll join new head coach Mark Kilam, a University of Alberta graduate returning to Edmonton after spending two decades in Calgary with the Stampeders. The team announced his hiring towards the end of 2024.

The Edmonton Elks officially signed American receiver Tre Odoms-Dukes on Tuesday to a one-year contract for the 2025 CFL season. #Elks have signed REC Tre Odoms-Dukes as was first reported by @danralphcp last week. #CFL- Dave Campbell (@Dave_CHED) January 6, 2025Odoms-Dukes spent the last three seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. In 2023, the 27 year-old caught 60 passes (98 targets) for 686 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 11.4 yards per catch.
