Federal forecasters today warned everyone to get ready for what's expected to be a busy hurricane season. "We are predicting an above average season once again for 2025," National Weather Service Director Ken Graham announced from the Jefferson Parish Emergency Operations Center in Gretna. He forecasts "13 to 19 named storms, that's when we get to 39 miles an hour... of these six to ten are forecast to become hurricanes, and that's when you get to the 74 mile an hour mark.

New details are emerging in the death of former LSU football player Kyren Lacy. The Harris County Sheriff's Office in Texas says Lacy shot himself while police were chasing him. A news release says the incident started Saturday night. "On April 12th, 2025, at approximately 11:15 p.m., deputies with the Harris County Pct. 4 Constable's Office responded to a weapons disturbance call in 9300 block of FM 1960," authorities stated.

Last week LSU swept 10th ranked Oklahoma and this weekend the Tigers are back on the road to face 9th ranked Auburn. Auburn is 23-10 overall, 6-6 in the SEC, and 15-5 at Plainsman Park. Auburn has won three of its four SEC series. They have defeated Kentucky in Lexingon, beat Vanderbilt and Alabama at home and were swept by Georgia in Athens. Auburn is coming off a thrilling 9-8 victory over Geogia Tech in Atlanta on Tuesday.

The weather app that came installed on my smart phone says the forecast for Tuesday is for up to five inches of snow in New Orleans. WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says the app on his phone this morning predicted nine inches of snow in New Orleans on Tuesday. "It's just telling you what the models are spitting out right now," Malone explained. "I caution you... our storm that could trigger this winter storm is still out over the Pacific.
