Iowa Travel Industry Partners has announced the recipients of the annual iTIP Foundation Awards. The awards ceremony will take place at the association’s annual meeting on June 10 in Winterset. The iTIP Awards are open to all individuals and organizations offering a tourism or hospitality service in Iowa. Among the list of award recipients are three from the Des Moines area. The Principal Charity Classic received the large market sustainability initiative award.

Two years ago, 110 Central Iowa residents began receiving $500 a month through a community study on how unrestricted cash can reduce poverty and impact the health and well-being of individuals. The program, called UpLift – the Central Iowa Basic Income Pilot, ended in April. During the next six months, UpLift staff will conduct follow-up interviews with participants to gauge how the extra funds benefited them.
